On 13 September, the NFDI4Culture Music Award was presented to Dr. Anita Jòri following the general meeting of the Gesellschaft für Musikforschung.
Her project ‘Anbahnung Berliner Techno-Archiv / Berlin Techno Archive’ deals with the digital preservation and indexing of the diverse material artefacts of Berlin's techno culture, which has been recognised as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage since this year.
It includes fan magazines, radio and television programmes, recordings of DJ and live sets and ego documents that have so far only been collected in private collections or in the context of the IT and media companies involved and present a variety of technical and legal challenges for long-term preservation.
The development of solutions for this previously untapped source area will contribute to the further standardisation of digitally born music cultural data.
The project receives the prize in category 2 up to 3000 €.
The call for entries for the 3rd NFDI4Culture Music Award 2024/2025 is currently open: nfdi4culture.de/de/nachrichten/3rd-nfdi4culture-music-award.html.
