NFDI4Culture Metadata API
Metadata of all resources as Linked Open Data
The NFDI4Culture portal offers all content as Linked Open Data over this RESTful API. The API implements the Hydra-Specification of the W3C Hydra Community Group. The semantic description of this API can be retrieved by clients via the Hydra documentation file (JSON). Each metadata record offered via this API can also be retrieved in one of following machine-readable LOD serializations. The API is the basis for the Culture Research Information Graph, which together with the Culture Research Data Graph forms the Culture Knowledge Graph (for more details see this presentation).

We are starting the new year with some great news: NFDI4Culture will be using its expertise to support the DigAMus Award in the future. Since its foundation, the DigAMus Award has established itself as a platform for outstanding digital projects in the cultural sector. With its new direction, it is now pursuing the goal of making the substantial data collection of submitted projects more usable for the community. The workflow already established in transferring the data to Wikidata is planned to be optimised. Special attention is devoted to data quality and structure in order to make it as well accessible and usable for research, education and the general public.
This is precisely where NFDI4Culture comes in with its vision of ‘Shared Data – Shared Practice – Shared Knowledge’. Both the DigAMus Award and NFDI4Culture continue to see the challenging work of data indexing for future sustainable use and cultural accessibility as an important task and basis for digital mediation. Together, we want to make the potential of cultural data visible and promote sustainable data use. Digital projects in the cultural sector play a central role here. In the future, the DigAMus Award will not only focus on established goals but also on how data is handled in the projects submissions – supported from 2025 by the expertise of NFDI4Culture.
