For the second time, the consortium was represented at the Film and Media Studies Colloquium No. 38 with a workshop on "Research Data Management for Early Career Researchers in Film and Media Studies".

The course was organized and conducted by the Cultural Research Data Academy, the NFDI4Culture division dedicated to education and training in the field of research data management and data literacy. A number of basic courses have already been developed within this framework, which can also be tailored to specific subjects on request.

The aim of the course at the FFK was to address students, doctoral candidates and early career researchers in particular, who are at the beginning of their research project, benefitting from basic knowledge in the field of research data management. Additionally they can learn more about the consortium's exchange opportunities and services if required.

Along the data life cycle, an overview of the basics and key concepts of research data management was provided with a special focus on film and media studies specific research data. In this context, topics such as the FAIR and CARE principles, data collection and a selection of annotation tools, meta data and authority files as well as the publications were presented. The search for suitable repositories, the requirements of good scientific practice and legal and ethical issues were also discussed. A particular concern was to repeatedly link individual thematic aspects with concrete examples from research practice, to address pragmatic solutions in exchange with the participants and to make support services known.

It turned out that questions were mainly asked on topics such as databases, video data and archiving text files. In addition, further networking is being sought in order to exchange information on the teaching of RDM topics during studies and their integration into university teaching.
