Cultural Research Data Academy

The CRDA offers a diverse range of events, including courses on research data management (RDM), workshops and collaborations with other consortia and initiatives. These offerings are complemented by the Educational Resource Finder (ERF), which not only lists third-party Open Educational Resources (OER) but also provides the CRDA’s basic RDM course as a self-study resource. Through its helpdesk, the CRDA also offers personalised advice on a wide range of topics relating to RDM, data and code literacy.

The overarching aim of the CRDA is to develop and enhance ‘cultural’ data and coding literacy, as well as computer-supported thinking and data management skills, for the humanities and cultural studies. This involves contributing to the increased integration of FDM into the curricula of humanities and cultural studies degree programmes as part of NFDI4Culture, by organising expert forums and liaising with the DHd working group  ‘Referenzcurriculum’. In addition, the CRDA is part of a network, extending beyond the boundaries of nfdi e. V. As well as contributing to the association’s own cross-cutting section, EduTrain, and maintaining valuable contacts with data literacy centres and regional rdm initiatives, staff members are also active in the OER.net networking group. All these collaborative efforts take place within a framework defined by the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and CARE (Collective Benefit, Authority of Control, Responsibility, Ethics) principles.
