The Cultural Research Data Academy is hosting an online workshop on the topic "Audiovisual (Research) Data – Areas of Application and Analytical Tools" on May 11, 2023 (2:00 to 4:30 pm). The course, which will be held in German, is part of our series of FDM basic courses and is primarily aimed at employees and researchers from higher education, cultural heritage institutions as well as Research Data Management contact points who would like to address the following questions:

What challenges are evident in the current handling of audiovisual data?

What tools are used in different areas of work in the humanities such as libraries, GLAM institutions (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) and projects in the higher education context?

We are pleased to have the support of speakers from the NFDI4Culture community, such as Dr. Kristina Richts-Matthaei (Task Area 2, Standards, data quality and curation), as well as Dr. Josephine Diecke from the Digital Cinema-Hub project.

The workshop program

I. Thematic block "Areas of application"

  1. Introduction to the term "audiovisual data"

  2. Data Standards/GND with regard to audiovisual data (with a focus on MEI – Music Encoding Initiative)

  3. "Preservation and storage – repositories, long-term digital preservation and data publication

II. Thematic block "Analytical tools"

  1. Introduction: Tools in the context of FAIR principles

  2. Presentation of selected annotation and visualisation tools

  3. Audiovisual Data in the context of CARE principles
