Art Monuments in East Central Europe – International collaborative portal

The portal Art Monuments in East Central Europe (Forschungsinfrastruktur Kunstdenkmäler in Ostmitteleuropa, FoKO) was developed in an international project funded by the Leibniz Association with the aim of establishing an interactive art historical research infrastructure with which methods, concepts and products of digital art history were applied and tested. The documentation data and image collections for a canon of outstanding buildings and works of art were brought together transnationally and made available with the aim of demonstrating the diverse interconnections of art development in East Central Europe in the period between 1000-1800 AD. The scientific communication infrastructure WissKi serves as the project´s virtual research environment. The portal presents a selection of East Central Europe’s most important monuments of art and architecture, illustrated with high-quality historical and contemporary photographs. Objects can be found via a full-text search or by using specific filters, categorized according to countries, material, era/style, genre and subject classification.
