NFDI4Culture Metadata API
Metadata of all resources as Linked Open Data
The NFDI4Culture portal offers all content as Linked Open Data over this RESTful API. The API implements the Hydra-Specification of the W3C Hydra Community Group. The semantic description of this API can be retrieved by clients via the Hydra documentation file (JSON). Each metadata record offered via this API can also be retrieved in one of following machine-readable LOD serializations. The API is the basis for the Culture Research Information Graph, which together with the Culture Research Data Graph forms the Culture Knowledge Graph (for more details see this presentation).

The third event of the task area Data Publication and Data Availability (Task Area 4) of the Consortium for Research Data on Material and Immaterial Cultural Heritage was organised as an open forum on 15th September 2021.
On the basis of practical examples, concrete needs of the different NFDI4Culture specialist communities were to be identified. Experiences and approaches to sustainable preservation and long-term availability of research outputs were exchanged and discussed with representatives from science, research and GLAM institutions.
As Task Area 4, we were able to take away important themes from the presentations as well as the discussion, focussing in particular on the need for handouts and best practices on long-term archiving and data publication. In addition, metadata turned out to be an area of concern when it comes to enabling the availability, re-use and exchange of research data. In this context, persistent identifiers for linking different data resources and uniform recording standards are crucial keywords. Data management with a focus on improving software for research data management and developing cost-effective business models was also identified as an important topic area.
During the discussions, it became clear that there is a concrete need for advisory services, such as handouts on 3D data, but also for clarification of general copyright issues.
