description

The Corpus Monodicum, as a long-term project of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz, is dedicated to the research and edition of music-historically significant, editorially largely unexplored stocks of monophonic music of the European Middle Ages with Latin text. The digital edition corpus comprises annotated transcriptions of around 5,000 chants or chant complexes of various genres (Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus, tropes, sequences, songs, and plays) with texts in Latin language from over 200 mostly manuscript sources of the 12th to 16th centuries of English, Norman, French, German, Italian, Aquitanian, and Catalan origin.
